iPhone 4, Κόλλησε την ώρα της επίσημης παρουσίασης

Θυμάστε την παρουσίαση των Windows 98 από τον Bill Gates την ώρα που πήγε να κάνει ένα live demo του λειτουργικού συστήματος, τα Windows κράσαραν και γελάγαμε για πολλά χρόνια μετά. Το ίδιο έπαθε και ο Steve Jobs στην πρώτη του επαφή με το νέο iPhone 4, του κόλλησε και δεν μπόρεσε να συγκρίνει την οθόνη του με αυτή του 3GS.

Χωρίς να αγνωθεί, συνέχισε την παρουσίασή του και επανήλθε μερικά λεπτά αργότερα δικαιολογώντας το γεγονός ότι φταίνε τα πάνω απο 570 αύρματα δίκτυα Wi-Fi base stations μέσα στο Συνεδριακό Χώρο και παρακάλεσε του Συνέδρους να απενεργοποιήσουν το Wi-Fi από τα laptop τους και να κλείσουν τα Mi-Fi. Έπεσε και λίγο γιουχάρισμα από το κοινό!

Το είδαμε και αυτό. Θα μείνει στην ιστορία! Η “μπλε οθόνη” του Steve Jobs.

“I don’t know what’s wrong with our networks,” Jobs says. He’s silent for a bit. But now he’s going to try some back ups, he tells us.

His phone says “Cannot activate cellular networks,” to some laughs from the crowd. “Well geez. I guess I can’t show you that much today. I can show you some pictures.”

He shows us the difference in picture quality. He’s trying the phone demo again. “I’m sorry guys, I don’t know what’s going on.” “Got any suggestions?” he asks. Someone shouts “Verizon.” Jobs says “We’re actually on Wi-Fi here.”

He says he figured out why the demo crashed. There are 570 Wi-Fi connections in this room. Either turn off Wi-Fi or I give up. Would you like to see the demos? he asks. All you bloggers need to turn off your notebook Wi-Fis.

He’s asking people to set their laptops on the floor.

11:05AM Oh my god. Jobs is asking everyone to turn off their network cards and MiFis!

11:04AM “I think you’re going to like it a lot. Before I begin number 6… our guys were running around like crazy backstage… we figured out why the demo crashed….” Oh no, they’re turning off the Wifi!

People are jeering… “come on guys.” Oooookay. “Are we done? So, number six: iPhone OS4. The most advanced mobile OS in the world.” Big applause.

11:06AM – “I’ve got time…” laughter. “This is a testament to how far we’ve come, isn’t it?”

11:05AM – “If you want to see the demos, there’s no way to do it. Set ‘em on the floor.” This is really awkward.

11:05AM – Wait, Steve is seriously asking everyone to stop liveblogging? They’re serious!

11:05AM – “Before I begin, our guys are running around backstage trying to figure out what’s up. Why? There are 570 WiFi base stations in the room… would you like to see the demos? All you bloggers need to turn off your base stations, put your notebooks down.”

11:32AM – “I really want your WiFi devices off, are they off? Please turn ‘em off if you’ve turned ‘em back on.”
